Based on today's MRI it appears that the medium-sized infarct was in the right middle cerebral distribution (frontal/parietal region) over the sylvian fissure. There was no bleed and it looks like it previously appeared on the CT.

Joanie has also begun speech therapy involving her tongue. They want to make sure she can swallow properly. She still needs her rest and I'm concerned that too many people will feel they should "drop by".

Thanks for keeping this blog. We appreciate being able to check in on how Joanie is doing. Your whole family is continually in our prayers.

Lance, my prayers are continually with Joanie and you! Yes, I want to visit, but will stay away because I know she needs her rest and understand how fatiguing it is to talk with the slurred speech. Remember, I have speech path experience in post stroke care and have a good idea of the exercises she needs to do to better coordinate the speech articulators. It does take great effort. I also understand that even though Joanie had the stroke, it happens to the WHOLE family and the network of people she touches, which is extensive. So, that's why I lift up all of you in prayer. After recently coming out of a 16 day hospital stay, I can relate to the barrage of tests and confusion that exists. I am so happy for her massage and getting my hair washed was high on my list and I was unable to do it for 8 days (yuck!). Please let us know when the appropriate time to visit might come. In the meantime, you know we are all pulling for a full recovery and serve a caring God who is our Creator, Healer, and Redeemer!
