Day 16

Joanie's email: joaniecarle "at" gmail.com

Some may wonder why the "at" instead of @. I understand computers are often utilized to search for email address but they look for the "@" symbol. I'm trying to avoid burdening Joanie with spam. My work email has been burdened with spam and the latest trick is to realize that someone has hijacked my email address and I get a constant barrage of spam messages being returned to me as "undeliverable" since they've been sent with my return email address!

I spent the afternoon and evening with Joanie. She still feels tired from coughing instead of sleeping the night through. Her muscles ache and she has a mild headache from her coughing. They are treating her for the cough. They also listening very regularly for any unwanted sounds emanating from the lungs. So far, so good.

Joanie still doesn't want to talk to friends in person or on the phone. When I was there, we spent great amounts of time sitting and not talking. She caught up on reading cards people have been sending. Tomorrow, we'll catch up on emails and she hopes to get current on the blog so she can see what has happened over the past two weeks.

"Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour."
Matthew 8:12-14

Dear, dear Joanie,

I just heard about your stroke, girl! Wil sent me a copy of the email to Lance indicating that you won't be painting with us this summer at Albion :(. I'm so very sorry but I know that you are strong, persevering, and will conquer this challenge. You will get well ;). Know we are holding you up in our prayers daily. Get rest! And, I know the hospital is often times the most challenging place to rest and recover. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help...thanks for the blog updates! We love you and we're praying for your speedy recovery!

Hi Joanie,
We are so glad that Lance is taking the time to keep us up to date on your recovery! We "check up" on you every day and look forward to seeing what new accomplishments you have achieved. Funny how Lance was so worried about the spelling/grammatical errors in the beginning. We were just so worried and sped through reading each blog just to find out how you were doing that if there were errors, we didn't notice them! Mike said that when he went to visit you (I knew he shouldn't have gone!!)that you looked good, sounded good and you even showed off a bit of your arm movements. Keep up the good work! Tanner misses you at school. I miss seeing your sunny smile as you lead the kids out to the grass after school and I miss our little after school chats and giggles. Take the time you need for yourself to heal and get better. Know that we are all praying and cheering for your recovery.
Love and hugs,
Mike, Maria & Tanner

Hi, from your cousin in Orlando (where it is 93 degrees)! I am reading Lance's blog every day and when I do, I lift you up in prayer. I don't blame you for not wanting to see or talk to people. Just take all the time you need to rest, sleep, go to PT, etc. YOU are the most important person right now. I am thinking of you and I love you! --Cindy
